January 17th - Tuesday Night Movies- Jarhead
This is a new American war hero starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a new Marine recruit shipped off to the Iraqi war. The movie starts at 8:30 at the Academy. We plan to meet at 8 at the movie theater and then have a quick drink nearby before the movie.

January 13th - Ice Skating and Raclette at the Dolder
Relive your childhood and let's go skating. We will meet at the ice skating rink at the Dolder and go skating for a few hours. Afterwards we will warm up inside and fill ourselves with Raclette cheese and potatoes. More details to come later.

January 28th-29th Arosa ski weekend
Last year a group of us stayed overnight on the mountain in Arosa (see pictures). This year we have decided to take the whole cabin for the night. The Hornli Hut is located at the end of the gondola in Arosa. We have basic accomodations with shower and bathrooms. The plan is to arrive Saturday as early as possible, ski all day and then lock ourselves in for the night at the top of the mountain. The cost of the evening including the meal is between 120 CHF per person and does not include the necessary ski lift tickets.

February 3 - Dinner at La Cote
Ever try the French Chaubonnaud? This is where we have a grill at the table and then grill our own beef. The restaurant La Cote will be closing in April so this will be our chance to stuff ourselves before it closes and moves locations. The restaurant offers a discretion where you can grill as much beef as you would like.

February 11th-12th Snow Shoeing Weekend
We plan to go snowshoeing in Davos and overnight in a mountain hut. This is going to be true adventure. We plan to meet at Davos Frauenkirch and snow shoe up to 1894 meteres to Stafelalp where we will overnight there. In true mountain adventure we will have an our own Fondue dinner in the mountains and then continue in the morning either up further up to Chörbschhorn. We will be professionally guided. The total cost is 275 CHF which includes the snow shoe equipment, overnight stay, fondue and breakfast. All you need to do join this adventure is signup and bring a sleeping bag. Space is limited to 15 persons and your spot is guarenteed with a prepayment of 100 CHF deposit.

February 25th - Skiing in Hoch Ybrig and Fondue Dinner
We are combining a day and evening event together in one day. During the day we will be skiing at Hoch Ybrig now that we have snow. By four, we will quite and head into hut on the mountain for a fondue dinner. There will be music and food till 10 and then we will either ski down the mountain.

March 31st - Pool Night
Why not get rid of the post work blues and join us for a beer and some pool. The meeting time is 8:30 at the Billiardino. Check out www.billiardino.ch for directions. We will have tables reserved and play till 11:00. The pool hall has a bar and small menu of pizza's and sandwiches. All levels are welcome. The whole point is to enjoy a relaxed evening, kick back a few beers and forget the week. April 9th – Brunch at the Restaurant Chäsalp
I just found this place accidentally and they have brunch on Sundays. Brunch is all you can eat buffet but the price of your brunch is dependent on your HEIGHT. We pay 19 rappens per centimeter so for once being shorter is an advantage. We have a table reserved for our group at 10:30 on Sunday. This place is just up on Zurichberg behind the Dolder and can be reached on the Number 751 bus at the stop Tobelhof. Please see their website at www.chaesalp.ch
April 17th - Easter Monday Bikeride to Rapperswil
Come and join Sara for a leisurely bike ride of about 29 km from Forch along the top of the Pfannenstil crest through a variegated landscape of woodland and meadows to Rapperswil. In Rapperswil, you can have lunch and explore the town. For the return to Zurich, you have the choice between taking the train or one of the boats, or even returning by bike. The meeting point will be the fountain at Stadelhoferplatz, which is right by the S-18 train station (Forchbahn) Zurich-Stadelhofen. We will be tacking S-18 to “Forch” at 10:00am. April 28th – Gala Dinner at the Masoala Rainforest exhibit
It took me six years to get to the Zurich Zoo but I just visited the new Masoala rainforest exhibit and it is amazing. You literally leave the winter doldrums to enter a real tropical forest. The zoo also hosts dinners at the Masoala restaurant. We meet at the information center at 6:30 and start with an apero then we will be given a short tour through the exhibit followed by a three course meal. The restaurant at Masoala has a great reputation for fine food and during dinner you will have a panorama view of the Masoala rainforest. The cost is approximately 125 CHF depending on your menu choice

May 12th - Bowling Night
Kick back the Friday work doldrums with some real American 10 pin bowling. We are going to meet at the Bowling Master (www.bowling-zuerich.ch) Glattalstrasse 40 for some beer and bowling just like in the good ole USA. We plan to meet at 20:30 and play till 23:00. There is a restaurant and bar for pizzas and beer. The cost of the bowling will be the total play time divided by the number of participants.

May 26th - Go Kart Night in Winterthur
Kick back the Monday doldrums with an evening Go Karting. This place is a huge warehouse turned into an entertainment center. We have reservation at 8:00pm. The price of 50 CHF includes two trips around the tracks and the top six people will have a final race to fight for the number one spot. Afterwards we can have a quick drink at the Outback which is next door before heading home. For directions see the website www.block.ch

June 2nd - BBQ at Tiefenbrunnen Park
Let’s hope that the weather cooperates and we have a nice eveing. Weather permitting, we are going to fire up the grill and get ready for the start of the work week stress with a beer and a brati. This is a casual meeting. We will organize a grill and the charcoal. Just come and meet us at the park at 7:30 with your food for the grill and drinks.

June 18th - Rafting in Interlaken
Just a couple of hours outside of Zurich and you have fantastic Class 3 and Class 4 river for white water rafting. If you have never been before this is a great river to try out white water rafting. The river offers enough excitement but is not overly challenging. The trip starts at 12:30 from Interlaken and lasts about 3 hours. The cost per person is 115 CHF.

July 21st - 23rd - Rafting on the Inn in Scuol
Why not get away from the city for the weekend and go on a rafting trip. The river Inn in Scuol is one of the best rivers in Europe for white water rafting. This is a challenging river for anyone that loves the excitement. We will be going down on Friday night and then rafting a full day on Saturday. Then Sunday is a free day to relax and enjoy the thermals baths in Scuol or to take an easy hike in the mountains. The cost of the rafting trip will be about 170 CHF per person and does not include the hotel cost which will be approximately 100 CHF per person. Payment will be needed in advance to reserve your spot.

August 19th - 20th Canyoning Weekend in Ticino
This trip is for those that love high adventure. If you love to be adventurous then this trip is for you. This is approximately four hour trip through the canyons in Ticino where we will be making jumps into pools of water that average between 5-8 meters. For the really high points we will be abseiling down and sometimes sliding down natural water slides. At all times we have the option to avoid jumps by either abseiling so don’t be nervous. The plan will be to go down Friday night and have our tour on Saturday. We will make a suggestion for hotels. The cost of the trip is 170 CHF per person excluding the hotel cost

August 26th - Sushi-boat Night on Lake Lucerne
Calling all sushi lovers. The ships on lake lucerne offer an all you can eat sushi night combined with a two ride along lake lucerne see http://www.lakelucerne.ch/index.cfm?site=lakelucerne.ch&page=54&lang=e for more details. We have a reservation for a group of 12 and are looking for other sushi lovers. We must board the boat by 20:00 and the boat departs at 20:15 and returns to shore at 10:15. The cost of the all you can eat sushi dinner is 59 CHF plus your cost of the boat ride which is 24 CHF with your half tax card and 32 CHF without.

Ice Climbing
We did this already last year and had a fantastic time. Take a look at the pictures. We will meet in the morning in Interlaken and then head over to the Glacier for our try at Ice Climbing. This is for beginners and nothing is required other than some warm clothing and enthusiasm.
